Sacred Heart Catholic School PTO

 

Mission:

The mission of the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is to enrich and support the Sacred Heart Catholic Parish and School community through hospitality, social events, educational enrichment and fundraising efforts.  Sacred Heart Catholic School families are a passionate and invested group that strives to provide the most well-rounded student, staff and family experience.

In addition, the PTO aims to:

• Grow and foster our school community
• Encourage volunteer efforts supporting school events, daily school activities, and fundraisers
• Establish new and creative ways to approach traditional school events in conjunction with school administration

Membership:

The membership of the PTO shall be parents/guardians of students who attend Sacred Heart School and Montessori. Members should represent a variety of grade levels and extracurricular interests.

PTO Meetings:

PTO meets the 3rd Thursday of each month at 5:30 pm in the TC Dining Room. We do not meet in July or December. To become a member of the PTO, or to receive weekly updates and our latest event information, contact [email protected].

Roles and Functions:

The PTO Executive Committee shall be made of:

• Chair (1-year term)
  • Schedule, coordinate, and facilitate monthly meetings
  • Meet monthly with Administration throughout the year
  • Coordinate and oversee all PTO based activities and efforts
  • Work with parish bookkeeper to access a monthly Profit and Loss Statement
• Vice Chair (2 year term)
  • SHS Board of Education Representative: Monthly updates from Board to PTO and PTO to Board
  • Perform duties of Chair if unable to do so
  • Step into Chair position after year 1
• Secretary
  • Record minutes of all meetings
  • Communicate minutes with school administration and school community at large
• Communications
  • Main point of contact for all PTO communications
  • Work with school administration on PTO section of school newsletters 
  • Work with school social media point person for posts to social media on upcoming events
  • Create flyers, event forms and Social Media posts
• Faculty/Staff Representative
  • Attend monthly meetings

 

Eligibility and Election of Executive Committee:

• Any parent/guardian of a student attending Sacred Heart School is eligible for office. 
• Faculty/Staff Representatives will be appointed based on recommendation and eligibility determined by the School Principal
• The Chair/Vice Chair positions are typically filled with a Committee member having at least two years of active participation within the PTO (two years of experience is preferred but not required). This participation includes serving in any of the PTO volunteer capacities. 
• Executive positions are nominated and voted on annually during a regularly scheduled PTO Monthly meeting (typically in May).
